Miss Havisham - Inspiration

As part of my research for my Miss Havisham character, I looked around for inspiration for my look.  I looked at how her character has been portrayed in past film remakes, in contemporary fashion photography, and in sketches.  Below are a few photos that I found.  To see more, take a look at my Pinterest:

In most of the images that I looked at, I found that Miss Havisham is portrayed as an older lady who has let herself go and gone a bit mad after having her heart broken on her wedding day.  This is the way in which Pip describes her in the novel, however I believe Miss Havisham to be younger than she is portrayed in the book.  This is because I want to look at Miss Havisham as she would have been seen by other Victorian people; a woman who had been left heartbroken but who wants to keep hold of a part of what her life could have been.
